What were my motives? What did I not like about the situation last year? I felt that the power to decide where our country was headed had been taken away from us and Europe was deciding instead, and those in Europe making the decisions were not voted for by us and so did not have a mandate to decide. I wanted our borders to be secured and for us to be able to decide how many people came into the country. I am not against immigration I just want it to be sensibly controlled. We are a small island and space to live is limited. Already the countryside is disappearing under more and more housing. I am well aware that our services and in particular our NHS is highly dependent on immigrants and these people should be welcomed with open arms. On another level the immigrants who do a large amount of the agricultural work are also invaluable. I am learning to teach English as a Foreign Language and hope to help immigrants settle in this country and feel they belong. I have seen huge changes in my country over the last 70 years, something which every generations sees. They are not necessarily bad changes but they could be managed better than they have been in recent years.
First of all thanks to Fat Prophet for your interest. I see from your blog you are having trouble commenting. To get back to my assessed service. Criticism albeit constructive is harder for some to take than others. I felt a little crushed after my assessed service but then remembered I had recorded it on my dictaphone. I listened to it all through and although my assessors were quite right about me speaking a little quickly and rushing from item to item, I was actually very pleased with the content of my sermon and how I presented it. So I have decided to take heart. I highly recommend other trainees to record your services. You can hear your good points and your bad and there is no argument about it, it is all caught on the recorder.
