October's nearly here.

You might like to read the poems I wrote last October. The titles of some of the poems are:- Bare tree, Travelling, Success, The bucket list. Prepare to have your conscience nudged if you read that last one. I really enjoyed writing a poem each day last year. Discipline is a wonderful thing and after all the more practice we have at something the better we get. Is there something you enjoy but you are just not doing it ? Set yourself a challenge to do it often and see how you improve. Here is the link to my October poetry page. A Poem For Every Day In October

More Poetry

In April 2010 I decided I needed a challenge. I decided to write a poem a day for a year. I successfully completed the challenge in April 2011. You are most welcome to view the results. It was a great experience and although not all the poems are "top-notch" I feel the lesser ones were a part of the creation of the better ones. Without the daily discipline many of the poems would not have been written. Is there something in your life which could benefit from a little discipline? I give you the link to one month of poems, the others can be found from that page. A Poem For Every Day In August
The dappled sky So pink,so grey Announces 'Tis the end of day. My weary soul Prepares for rest, I hope in the morn I'll rise with new zest. The sun has set And left such hues. The darkening sky Obscures the view. I love this time When day bids farewell. Soon I'll slumber. 'Til the morning bell. A Poem for Every Day in August

A Poem for July

Written a few days ago. 'Tis July And the day is sultry. A seagull keens overhead. I sit in the car park at Tesco's I've just bought a loaf of bread. My friend's in the town As I wait here For her, in the car. The day around is sleepy As I wait on the melting tar. Drowsiness creeps upon me, Ensnaring me like a drug. The air is still and warm Holding me in it's hug. Last year I wrote a poem every day for the year. You can find some more of my poetry here. A Poem for Every Day in August Poems of Loss

Can you write poetry?

Today I tried a new trick to cope with writer's block when writing poetry. I took several words at random from the dictionary and used them around which to build a poem. I was quite pleased with the result and will do it again. You can see the result in the Squidoo lens below. If you take a look you can also find my poems for every day of the year, split up into monthly lenses. How to write a poem just like me

Haiku challenge on Squidoo

I'm all for challenges as I am teetering on the point of finishing my self imposed challenge to write a poem a day for a year. The link for the haiku challenge can be found at the foot of this post. This will greatly help me finish my last month, giving me that little bit of impetus to finish. I actually finish on April 6th. Lensmaster rgasperson is challenging all comers to write 10 haiku a day and then submit the best one to have a chance to be entered in his haiku book. Sounds like a fun idea to me.So here is the link to his lens and a link to my February poems.I am replacing the original page with one of my own which contains examples of haiku Some examples of my own haiku can be found here. A poem for every day in February

Hi to all

So here I am on Blogger. I,m hooked on the internet, so much so that I've just burnt the carrots and potatoes. I am a retired violin and piano teacher. I am training to be a local preacher with the Methodist church in the U.K. I like writing poetry and you can find some on http://squidoo.com/InspMed . I think it's time people heard about how great God is. I assure you He's real, I know Him personally.I live in a lovely flat with super views of the Devon hills. I live alone, except that God is with me. So I'm not lonely at all. Hope to get to know a few people here soon.
