Is it, my foot?!! It
so happens that none of us are impartial.
We are not capable of it. We
always look at things from our own viewpoint, according to what we have
experienced and learned in life. But the
BBC certainly is not impartial; the way it slants interviews and gives more
time to some stories than others. It is
true that there are so many wars going on in the world that it would be
impossible to keep up with them fully all the time, but Africa gets very little
coverage. Even the ongoing migrant crisis
drops out of view as and when the BBC desires. Now and again I take a look at
other news programmes such as RT (once known as Russia Today) to get a
different slant on things. It’s not that
I think it is more reliable, but just that you get another perspective and don’t
get dragged entirely into the BBC’s way of seeing things.
I cannot understand
the need to report all the gory details when a young girl is kidnapped, raped
and murdered. We need to know justice is
being done but we don’t need to be frightened to death by photos of the
perpetrator on our screens for several seconds, burning their scary features
into our memories.
I am a creationist, a
thoughtful creationist who has thought through my viewpoint, but the BBC plugs
evolution (still only a theory) at every opportunity and gives no air time to
the creationist point of view. Yes, real
scientists can be creationists but they are treated with scorn. Science is about looking at all possible
viewpoints before making up one’s mind. How
little this happens.
If I were not a Christian
I would be very concerned about the way things are reported, but as I am I do
not depend on the BBC to inform me, I just place my trust in Jesus.
