Thank you Lord God for a day planned and perfectly executed
by you. From the time spent with friends
at the local Farmer’s Market in our village hall, to the time spent on my own
(except, of course, You were always with me.)
Thank you for the plentiful supply of food you have given me this
day. Thank you for my computer which has
helped me to learn more Russian today and kept me in touch with the good folk
who read this blog. Thank you for the telephone by which I have kept in touch
with friends and especially with my brother who has to have a heart procedure
next week. Thank you that You have made me realise just a little of how great You
are. May this be increased each day so
that knowing your strength and power I will feel completely safe and secure in
You no matter what life throws at me.
Help me to always say, “Thy will be done on earth as it is in heaven.”
I watched The Detectorists tonight. I have not watched it before. It is about a group of people who use detecting equipment to discover old coins and other things of archeological interest. This was the last in the series and had a bitter sweet feel to it. One of the main characters asked,"Why do we do it?" and the other replied,"This is the nearest you will ever get to time travel." You have to be an optimist to do metal detecting. There is always the attraction of making a big find or an important discovery. Among all the tin cans and coat hangers found there is the hope of a Saxon hoard, or Roman gold. Optimism keeps them going.
