Are you a fear full Christian perplexed by the state of our
world, perplexed by the state of your health, perplexed by what is happening in
your family? We are all like that at some point and that is why in the Bible,
so many times, we are told, “Fear not.”
But it is easier said than done.
The trouble is we have so poor an idea of who God is and what He is
like. God is totally in control of everything
that happens in this world. His will is
being done. We worry about the wars in
the world, about the migrants crossing Europe in hope of finding a better
life. We see a mess, but from God’s
perspective everything is working out for God’s glory and our eternal welfare
if we are trusting Jesus. Take all your worries to God and surrender to Him and
say, “Your will be done,” That takes the panic out of every situation.
I watched The Detectorists tonight. I have not watched it before. It is about a group of people who use detecting equipment to discover old coins and other things of archeological interest. This was the last in the series and had a bitter sweet feel to it. One of the main characters asked,"Why do we do it?" and the other replied,"This is the nearest you will ever get to time travel." You have to be an optimist to do metal detecting. There is always the attraction of making a big find or an important discovery. Among all the tin cans and coat hangers found there is the hope of a Saxon hoard, or Roman gold. Optimism keeps them going.
