Who to follow

Now that you know I am not perfect you will understand why I tell you not to follow me.  You need to follow the Bible and the only way to do that is to read it often.  I have read my Bible every day for large portions of my life, starting when I was seven years old and now i am 68.  How fortunate I am to have been blessed in this way, but you can start now whatever your age. This is the only book that can tell you who God is and what he requires of us humans.  Start with Psalm 103 which speaks of God’s loving kindness to His people. Of course you can learn from other Christians but always check what we say against the Bible.  The versions I would recommend are the King James, if you can cope with oldy worldy language, the New King James, the English Standard version, or the New English Translation.  All can be found online.  Happy reading.

Life after death

When we lose a loved one it is natural to wonder how they are faring in the next life. I would warn against going to a medium to find out. At worst these people are charlatans after your money, the rest misguided or worse. We are told in the Bible not to try to reach the dead. The best person to call on in this situation is Jesus. That's right, go to the top. He is always available through prayer and doesn't make a charge. All he requires is that you look for him with all your heart. He has the answers to all of life's difficult questions.

Persecution of the sick in Britain

The British government, through the benefits system is persecuting thousands of people who are not fit to work, giving them very skimpy benefits. People who are not able to work for health reasons are not able to stand up for themselves. The goverment will answer to God when the suicides happen. People were treated in this way back in the Old Testament. Then exile was the result for the perpetrators. Something equally as bad will happen to those in power today. The churches should be aware that there are people in need and set up soup kitchens for these people. Many are in this position through no fault of their own. They should be helped not looked down upon.

Persevering

Sometimes it's hard to keep going with something we have started. A little setback can get in the way of trying to do something good. I want these thoughts to touch your heart and make you think things through. However as I cannot tell if anyone has read them unless you comment, I get disheartened and feel I am a voice calling in the wilderness. But who can tell who might light upon this page and be really encouraged or helped in their journey of life. If only one person was helped it would all be worthwhile. If you have been helped in any way by this blog do make a comment.I could do with some encouraging too.You can find more thoughts like these at this link A thought for each day
