A healthy church is one in which the Bible takes central
place. After all where else can we find
out about God, what He is like and what He requires of us. I recently saw a DVD of about twenty minutes
long on the subject of suffering. It was
very late in the DVD before the Bible was even mentioned, when the story of Job
was alluded to. What sort of a “Christian”
DVD was this to try and understand how God deals with us if we didn’t go to the
Bible to find out. My advice would be to
find a church or small house group where the Bible is honoured as God’s word
and only source for our beliefs. Such people are in a minority these days but
they are honouring God and will be blessed.
When we lose a loved one it is natural to wonder how they are faring in the next life. I would warn against going to a medium to find out. At worst these people are charlatans after your money, the rest misguided or worse. We are told in the Bible not to try to reach the dead. The best person to call on in this situation is Jesus. That's right, go to the top. He is always available through prayer and doesn't make a charge. All he requires is that you look for him with all your heart. He has the answers to all of life's difficult questions.
