Goodbye Amy Winehouse

How sad to see a young life ended. My daughter is just two years older than Amy Winehouse and I would so hate to lose her. My sympathies go to Amy's family. Fame and fortune are hard task masters and rarely pay out any dividends worth having. They just seem to heighten loneliness and lack of self worth. Amy must be quite famous for me to have heard of her, as I do not generally keep up with the music scene. I sometimes look at Hello magazine in the hairdressers and wonder who all these famous people are, because most of them I have never heard of. What a quiet back water I must live in and I am glad it is so. I am not famous and do not have much money, but I am content and that is worth a lot.

At worst these people are charlatans after your money, the rest misguided or worse. We are told in the Bible not to try to reach the dead. The best person to call on in this situation is Jesus. That's right, go to the top. He is always available through prayer and doesn't make a charge. All he requires is that you look for him with all your heart. He has the answers to all of life's difficult questions.

Persecution of the sick in Britain

The British government, through the benefits system is persecuting thousands of people who are not fit to work, giving them very skimpy benefits. People who are not able to work for health reasons are not able to stand up for themselves. The goverment will answer to God when the suicides happen. People were treated in this way back in the Old Testament. Then exile was the result for the perpetrators. Something equally as bad will happen to those in power today. The churches should be aware that there are people in need and set up soup kitchens for these people.Many are in this position through no fault of their own. They should be helped not looked down upon.

Persevering

Sometimes it's hard to keep going with something we have started. A little setback can get in the way of trying to do something good. I want these thoughts to touch your heart and make you think things through. However as I cannot tell if anyone has read them unless you comment, I get disheartened and feel I am a voice calling in the wilderness. But who can tell who might light upon this page and be really encouraged or helped in their journey of life. If only one person was helped it would all be worthwhile.
