I consider that England has never truly been a Christian
country (There is no such thing.) Not
what I mean by Christian. Instead there
have been hierarchical institutions claiming to be Christian but only really
interested in having power in the country.
The true Christians have always been and always will be those who trust
in Christ alone for their salvation, no matter what they have to suffer from
those around them who do not believe. I realise that this country has changed
forever and no amount of Brexit will put the clock back to a time I felt more
comfortable with. I am quite comfortable,
because I live in a rural situation where we are in a time bubble and have not
yet caught up with the rest of the country.
When I voted for Brexit
I was protesting that our country had had its ability to make its own decisions
taken away from it. I do not disagree
with immigration, just the fact that we could not control it, and still can’t
to this day. I don’t want to see anyone,
except criminals, thrown out of the country.
Immigrants play a vital part in running the much needed services of the
country. I do want refugees to be
helped. I just don’t want the quotas to
be decided by Europe.
Our country has
changed forever, but that is a fact of history always. Whatever sort of Brexit we end up with, and
it will probably be a pale reflection of what many hoped for, nothing will ever
be the same again; but somehow our children and grandchildren will cope and
wonder why Grandma made such a fuss.
