On the brink of disaster

Every now and then the world seems on the brink of disaster with different world powers posturing against one another and danger seems imminent.  The truth is we are always on the brink but make ourselves a cozy bed in denial. Many of us are cushioned by being in a less danger situation at least close to home.  For us disaster is something remote in the Mediterranean where migrants drown because their boats are not sea worthy. We say, “Poor things.” And turn back to our comfortable lives. But the biggest danger we face, no matter where we come from is danger from God.  We are all sinners having inherited this problem from our first father and mother Adam and Eve.  If we think about God at all we may try to please him with the good deeds we do.  But the problem is God requires us to be absolutely perfect!! He knows that is impossible for us if left to ourselves and so in His kindness and mercy He sent Jesus to die on the cross so that absolutely any of us who put our trust in Him will be saved from God’s anger and be clothed with that necessary perfection.  How great is our God!! Once your eternal destiny is sorted you can face anything in this life because you know there is a better one to come.  It doesn’t make living easy but it puts it into perspective.

Life after death

When we lose a loved one it is natural to wonder how they are faring in the next life. I would warn against going to a medium to find out. At worst these people are charlatans after your money, the rest misguided or worse. We are told in the Bible not to try to reach the dead. The best person to call on in this situation is Jesus. That's right, go to the top. He is always available through prayer and doesn't make a charge. All he requires is that you look for him with all your heart. He has the answers to all of life's difficult questions.

Persecution of the sick in Britain

The British government, through the benefits system is persecuting thousands of people who are not fit to work, giving them very skimpy benefits. People who are not able to work for health reasons are not able to stand up for themselves. The goverment will answer to God when the suicides happen. People were treated in this way back in the Old Testament. Then exile was the result for the perpetrators. Something equally as bad will happen to those in power today. The churches should be aware that there are people in need and set up soup kitchens for these people. Many are in this position through no fault of their own. They should be helped not looked down upon.

Persevering

Sometimes it's hard to keep going with something we have started. A little setback can get in the way of trying to do something good. I want these thoughts to touch your heart and make you think things through. However as I cannot tell if anyone has read them unless you comment, I get disheartened and feel I am a voice calling in the wilderness. But who can tell who might light upon this page and be really encouraged or helped in their journey of life. If only one person was helped it would all be worthwhile. If you have been helped in any way by this blog do make a comment.I could do with some encouraging too.You can find more thoughts like these at this link A thought for each day
