The twelve-year-old Jesus

On Sunday I will be speaking from the story of Jesus at twelve staying behind in Jerusalem to speak with the rabbis at the temple. What I will first point out is that Jesus is the sinless Son of God. If he is not we are all doomed and him with us. However I firmly believe that he is sinless and fully able to save all who will believe and put their trust in him. Having established that, we can look at the events and not fall into the trap of thinking that Jesus is a rebellious teenager, thoughtlessly causing his parents trouble. I believe he was at the centre of God's will in what he was doing and it was his parents who were thoughtlessly blundering in leaving without him and then finding it difficult to determine where he was. Keep in mind that Jesus is perfect and put your trust in him and you will be saved.

Life after death

When we lose a loved one it is natural to wonder how they are faring in the next life. I would warn against going to a medium to find out. At worst these people are charlatans after your money, the rest misguided or worse. We are told in the Bible not to try to reach the dead. The best person to call on in this situation is Jesus. That's right, go to the top. He is always available through prayer and doesn't make a charge. All he requires is that you look for him with all your heart. He has the answers to all of life's difficult questions.

Persecution of the sick in Britain

The British government, through the benefits system is persecuting thousands of people who are not fit to work, giving them very skimpy benefits. People who are not able to work for health reasons are not able to stand up for themselves. The goverment will answer to God when the suicides happen. People were treated in this way back in the Old Testament. Then exile was the result for the perpetrators. Something equally as bad will happen to those in power today. The churches should be aware that there are people in need and set up soup kitchens for these people. Many are in this position through no fault of their own. They should be helped not looked down upon.

Persevering

Sometimes it's hard to keep going with something we have started. A little setback can get in the way of trying to do something good. I want these thoughts to touch your heart and make you think things through. However as I cannot tell if anyone has read them unless you comment, I get disheartened and feel I am a voice calling in the wilderness. But who can tell who might light upon this page and be really encouraged or helped in their journey of life. If only one person was helped it would all be worthwhile. If you have been helped in any way by this blog do make a comment.I could do with some encouraging too.You can find more thoughts like these at this link A thought for each day
