In my last post I got all political, but politics is not
what really interests me. Obviously what
the politicians do affects all of our lives but we need to remember it is our
eternal destiny that matters. The Bible
tells us that God put those in authority over us and we should pray for
them. They are there to reward good
people and punish the bad. Of course it
doesn’t always seem that way to us. I do
not believe in the divine right of kings.
Kings in the past have treated this as a licence to do as they
pleased. Those in authority will one day
have to stand before God and give an account of how they have ruled. Christians who have oppressive people in
power over them should still pray for them and trust God to make things right.
We forget how great our God is and that His ways are not our ways. His will is never thwarted for He turns awful
things out, to bring Him glory and brings His children to eventual complete
salvation. God of course deserves all glory.
He is totally wonderful. His
glory is not that of an Olympic runner, a short burst of adulation from the
crowds and a golden gong on the mantelpiece. God’s glory is from everlasting to
everlasting and totally deserved with no chance of the use of banned
substances. In these days of human celebrity we have lost sight of the wonder
and beauty and perfection that God is.
Wake up Christian your God is
mighty and majestic. Your enemies don’t stand
a chance. They may be winning the first battles but the war is already won in
Jesus Christ. The final victory is
already secure.
First of all thanks to Fat Prophet for your interest. I see from your blog you are having trouble commenting. To get back to my assessed service. Criticism albeit constructive is harder for some to take than others. I felt a little crushed after my assessed service but then remembered I had recorded it on my dictaphone. I listened to it all through and although my assessors were quite right about me speaking a little quickly and rushing from item to item, I was actually very pleased with the content of my sermon and how I presented it. So I have decided to take heart. I highly recommend other trainees to record your services. You can hear your good points and your bad and there is no argument about it, it is all caught on the recorder.
