I meet new friends

Today I drove my car to the village where I could catch the bus to Exeter.  In Britain retired people can travel free on the buses!! In Exeter I had a small meal for lunch.  I looked around a few shops but resisted buying anything because now I am on a mission to save enough money to go to Russia next year.  It’s amazing what you can do without when you have a special purpose.  The whole purpose of my journey was to meet members of the Exeter/Yaroslavl Twinning Association.  They were to meet in the museum.  I am one of those people who cannot bear to be late for anything, so I got there very early and browsed through the museum’s exhibits. I arrived at the museum cafe designated as the meeting place about ten minutes early and kept prowling through until at last I saw some ladies putting two tables together and I guessed they must be members and so I approached them and yes they were members of the Association.  Eventually there were about six or seven of us.  One lady was fluent in Russian and she spoke to me in Russian to see how much I understood.  I was delighted by that and was amazed to know that she knew my village some twenty miles away. The next meeting I intend to go to is a Russian conversation afternoon. I am thrilled with all we discussed and the possibilities of improving my Russian. It has been an exciting day and now I need to chill out and calm down ready for a good night’s sleep.

Life after death

When we lose a loved one it is natural to wonder how they are faring in the next life. I would warn against going to a medium to find out. At worst these people are charlatans after your money, the rest misguided or worse. We are told in the Bible not to try to reach the dead. The best person to call on in this situation is Jesus. That's right, go to the top. He is always available through prayer and doesn't make a charge. All he requires is that you look for him with all your heart. He has the answers to all of life's difficult questions.

Persecution of the sick in Britain

The British government, through the benefits system is persecuting thousands of people who are not fit to work, giving them very skimpy benefits. People who are not able to work for health reasons are not able to stand up for themselves. The goverment will answer to God when the suicides happen. People were treated in this way back in the Old Testament. Then exile was the result for the perpetrators. Something equally as bad will happen to those in power today. The churches should be aware that there are people in need and set up soup kitchens for these people. Many are in this position through no fault of their own. They should be helped not looked down upon.

Persevering

Sometimes it's hard to keep going with something we have started. A little setback can get in the way of trying to do something good. I want these thoughts to touch your heart and make you think things through. However as I cannot tell if anyone has read them unless you comment, I get disheartened and feel I am a voice calling in the wilderness. But who can tell who might light upon this page and be really encouraged or helped in their journey of life. If only one person was helped it would all be worthwhile. If you have been helped in any way by this blog do make a comment.I could do with some encouraging too.You can find more thoughts like these at this link A thought for each day
