Why are we not afraid of the bomb anymore?

I remember as a teenager in the sixties that we were all afraid of imminent nuclear war.  Today no one seems to feel this anymore.  Why is this?  I was hearing on the T.V. this evening that America and Russia still have nuclear weapons aimed at each other with button primed for immediate use.  So why does this get spoken of so rarely? I would say that most people are more worried about a terrorist  bomb, when they are on holiday than they are about huge devastation in a nuclear exchange.  The fact is people are so set on making money and buying the latest gadget, the things they believe they must have to be happy.  Also to contemplate nuclear devastation is not comfortable and so denial kicks in.  The danger of nuclear war is probably greater now than in the Cold War.  The reason I am less worried about it is because I believe God is in charge of all these things and He knows best.  That does not mean that it will not happen.  God’s ways are past finding out and only He knows what is best, whether it is in our personal lives or in world affairs. As we get nearer to the end of time many terrifying things will happen, but this means that if our trust is in Jesus we are being brought nearer to the resolution of all things when we will enter heaven to be with our Saviour forever. But for now we have important things to learn but most of all to trust Jesus whatever happens.

Life after death

When we lose a loved one it is natural to wonder how they are faring in the next life. I would warn against going to a medium to find out. At worst these people are charlatans after your money, the rest misguided or worse. We are told in the Bible not to try to reach the dead. The best person to call on in this situation is Jesus. That's right, go to the top. He is always available through prayer and doesn't make a charge. All he requires is that you look for him with all your heart. He has the answers to all of life's difficult questions.

Persecution of the sick in Britain

The British government, through the benefits system is persecuting thousands of people who are not fit to work, giving them very skimpy benefits. People who are not able to work for health reasons are not able to stand up for themselves. The goverment will answer to God when the suicides happen. People were treated in this way back in the Old Testament. Then exile was the result for the perpetrators. Something equally as bad will happen to those in power today. The churches should be aware that there are people in need and set up soup kitchens for these people. Many are in this position through no fault of their own. They should be helped not looked down upon.

Section A

I've posted off my work for section A. Now to get on with B. Onward and upward as they say. It does feel good to have completed A, progress is being made.I think my tutor is more nervous than I as to the outcome, but then I am his first student. We are learning from each other. But then that should always be the case. It's an adventure we go on together. The course seems to be suiting me alright but I feel there are a lot of potentially excellent local preachers out there who are put off by the study. Something should be devised to include these good people, we can ill afford to do without them, especially as the numbers of ministers is dropping. What did Wesley do? You don't need a degree, or even A levels to preach. You need a call, and a close relationship with God.
