Who is accountable to whom?

Today I met a friend.  She was talking about the God of the Old Testament being horrid and zapping people He didn’t like.  When she talks like this I go sort of numb and can’t think of anything to say, but now, afterwards I would say, “Who do you think you are?  Is God accountable to you?  Have you any idea how mighty and wonderful and good God is?  We are accountable to Him, not the other way around.  If He wants to zap us He will be proved right.  But this God who destroyed the old world with a flood also saved Noah and seven of his family and He has made a way for us to be totally acceptable to Him, if we will just believe in Jesus and the salvation He provides to all you do believe.” How I wish she could find peace with God in Jesus.

Persecution of the sick in Britain

The British government, through the benefits system is persecuting thousands of people who are not fit to work, giving them very skimpy benefits. People who are not able to work for health reasons are not able to stand up for themselves. The goverment will answer to God when the suicides happen. People were treated in this way back in the Old Testament. Then exile was the result for the perpetrators. Something equally as bad will happen to those in power today. The churches should be aware that there are people in need and set up soup kitchens for these people.Many are in this position through no fault of their own. They should be helped not looked down upon.

Persevering

Sometimes it's hard to keep going with something we have started. A little setback can get in the way of trying to do something good. I want these thoughts to touch your heart and make you think things through. However as I cannot tell if anyone has read them unless you comment, I get disheartened and feel I am a voice calling in the wilderness. But who can tell who might light upon this page and be really encouraged or helped in their journey of life. If only one person was helped it would all be worthwhile.
