Prosperity Gospel?

There are those who preach that if you give lots of money to God he will reward you with still more.  This hardly matches up with what Jesus said about money.  He said,"Do not lay up for yourselves riches on earth where moth and rust corrupt and thieves break through and steal, but lay up for yourselves treasure in heaven so that where your treasure is there will your heart be also." We are not here to collect wealth but to glorify God in our lives no matter how much or little we have.

We all have these ideas of how nice it would be to be wealthy but it is not the way to follow Christ.  In Britain I would be considered relatively poor, but I am like a queen in a castle compared to third world people.  I have everything I need plus things I don't even really need.  Do not rush after riches they are false and can leave you in a moment.  Instead seek to gain the perfect peace and forgiveness that can only be found in Jesus.  He is the only true treasure, seek to find Him.

Life after death

When we lose a loved one it is natural to wonder how they are faring in the next life. I would warn against going to a medium to find out. At worst these people are charlatans after your money, the rest misguided or worse. We are told in the Bible not to try to reach the dead. The best person to call on in this situation is Jesus. That's right, go to the top. He is always available through prayer and doesn't make a charge. All he requires is that you look for him with all your heart. He has the answers to all of life's difficult questions.

Persecution of the sick in Britain

The British government, through the benefits system is persecuting thousands of people who are not fit to work, giving them very skimpy benefits. People who are not able to work for health reasons are not able to stand up for themselves. The goverment will answer to God when the suicides happen. People were treated in this way back in the Old Testament. Then exile was the result for the perpetrators. Something equally as bad will happen to those in power today. The churches should be aware that there are people in need and set up soup kitchens for these people. Many are in this position through no fault of their own. They should be helped not looked down upon.

Section A

I've posted off my work for section A. Now to get on with B. Onward and upward as they say. It does feel good to have completed A, progress is being made.I think my tutor is more nervous than I as to the outcome, but then I am his first student. We are learning from each other. But then that should always be the case. It's an adventure we go on together. The course seems to be suiting me alright but I feel there are a lot of potentially excellent local preachers out there who are put off by the study. Something should be devised to include these good people, we can ill afford to do without them, especially as the numbers of ministers is dropping. What did Wesley do? You don't need a degree, or even A levels to preach. You need a call, and a close relationship with God.
